I was born and raised in Houston, Tx. I graduated from Texas A&M in 1978 with a BS in Range Science and worked for Temple Eastex / Diboll, Tx. in Wildlife Management till 1981. After that, I was in partnership with my Father and Brother as a Manufacturer's Rep in the Industrial, Pipeline and Petrochemical Industries for 22 years. I was also a Farm & Ranch Real Estate Agent with Tom Carpenter Real Estate for 4 years. Since 2006, I have owned a Manufacturer's Rep company (A&M Equipment) providing valves and fabrication to the Natural Gas Midstream and Transmission industry throughout North Central & West Texas, Texas Panhandle and New Mexico.
I married Laura LeFevre (San Angelo native) in 1978 (smartest thing I ever did). I have 3 Kids: Chris - 27 years old, Texas A&M Class of 2005, Living & working in Houston; Clint - 23 years old, Texas A&M Class of 2010, In Law School @ St. Mary's in San Antonio; & Allison - 21 years old, Texas A&M Class of 2011, Senior @ A&M.
I became familiar with Meals for the Elderly through my Mother in Law, Mamie LeFevre of San Angelo who had been a volunteer since the meals were delivered in horse drawn carriages (just kidding). Her dedication and tales of adventure delivering the meals with her sidekick Betty Crawford and of relationships they formed with the recipients painted a picture of an organization that provided not just nourishment, but also a connection with folks that were in many cases neglected, forgotten or just fallen thru the cracks of society. What an incredible service that Meal's provide with just a handful of paid staff and an army of selfless volunteers that represent a broad spectrum of our community and manage to squeeze every penny of value from every dollar raised. When I was asked to become a part of such a worthy endeavor, I was honored and jumped at the opportunity!
