Seniors Still Believe

Bringing Holiday Joy to Homebound Neighbors

The holiday season should be a time of warmth, love, and celebration. But for many homebound seniors living alone, December can be one of the loneliest months of the year.

Seniors Still Believe is Meals For The Elderly’s annual holiday gift program designed to remind our homebound neighbors that they are cherished, valued, and not forgotten.

What the Program Is About

Imagine an older adult quietly spending the holidays alone—no family nearby, no gifts under a tree. Then, a gentle knock at the door. A volunteer steps inside holding a brightly wrapped present filled with a simple wish come true: cozy pajamas, warm slippers, a soft blanket, or personal care items. That moment—when a senior hears “Someone still cares”—is what Seniors Still Believe is all about. mealsfortheelderly.org

Since 2010, this heart-warming initiative has brought hope, dignity, and joy to hundreds of homebound seniors throughout Tom Green, Concho, and Irion Counties, as well as Miles, Texas.

How It Works

  1. Senior Wishes: Each participating recipient writes down a simple Christmas wish—often something cozy or practical. mealsfortheelderly.org

  2. Ornaments on the Tree: These wishes are turned into ornaments and displayed on community Christmas trees across San Angelo and nearby towns.

  3. You Help Fulfill Wishes:

    • Choose an ornament and shop for your senior’s gift.

    • Or donate $30 and let us shop on your behalf. mealsfortheelderly.org

  4. Stocking Stuffers: We also collect small items like puzzle books, socks, lotion, and treats to add extra comfort to each gift package.

Important Dates

  • Individual Adoption Program: November 1 – December 1

  • Community Partner Program: November 3 – December 3

All gifts and donations can be dropped off at participating tree locations or at the Meals For The Elderly office.

Ways You Can Make a Difference

1. Individual Adoption

Visit a participating Christmas tree, choose a senior’s ornament, and fulfill that wish—or donate $30 and let us do the shopping for you.

2. Community Partner Commitment

Businesses, churches, and organizations can adopt multiple seniors to help ensure every wish is fulfilled:

  • Santa’s Helper: 5 Seniors ($150)

  • Jolly Giver: 10 Seniors ($300)

  • Christmas Angel: 20 Seniors ($600)

  • Custom Commitment: Choose your number of seniors mealsfortheelderly.org

Together, we can make sure no ornament is left on the tree and no senior is forgotten this holiday season.

Why This Matters

For many seniors, the gift they receive through Seniors Still Believe may be the most meaningful present of the year. Each wrapped package carries a powerful message:
“You matter. You are loved. You are not forgotten.”

Last year, more than 500 seniors were touched by this program—receiving not just a gift, but a reminder that love still surrounds them.
