Cheryl DeCordova

District Director - State Senator Charles Perry

Cheryl believes that giving back to the community brings purpose, fulfillment, and joy. “When you meet the needs of others, you realize the true value of serving beyond yourself,” she says. For Cheryl, helping individuals and organizations thrive not only strengthens the community but also enriches her own life with happiness and perspective.

Being named a 2025 Community Champion is a meaningful honor for Cheryl. In her role with Senator Perry, she works daily to connect constituents with resources, build relationships, and advocate for the community. This recognition reflects her passion for service and commitment to making a real difference in people’s lives.

Cheryl’s dedication extends far beyond her professional role. She has a long history of volunteer work in education, including leadership positions on PTA boards and as President of Central High PTO and Lee Junior High PTO. She co-led a Girl Scout troop, served on school committees, and was honored with the “Heroes for Children Award” by TEA Region 15. Cheryl is also active with Glen Meadows Baptist Church, the San Angelo Symphony (including as Pops Chairman), and the Planning Committee of the West Texas Legislative Summit, where she has served for 18 years.

A favorite quote that inspires her daily work comes from Thomas Jefferson:
“It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing.”

A proud Texan through and through, Cheryl is a direct descendant of Collin McKinney, drafter and signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence. Her family treasures the original pen and inkwell used to sign the historic document. On her husband’s side, her ancestor Jacob deCordova helped settle towns across Texas, including Waco and Granbury, and created the first official map of Texas in 1849. For Cheryl, Texas history runs deep, and so does her commitment to the community she calls home.
