We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available for groups and organizations depending on your size and availability. We will need a main point of contact for the group that we can easily contact. Volunteer opportunities include, but aren't limited to:
- Driving a route on a regular, substitute, or emergency basis.
Meals are delivered Monday - Friday. Volunteers can pick up meals between 10:00 am - 11:15 am for meal delivery. Average route delivery times range from an hour to an hour and a half. Groups can adopt a regular route, be available to drive when someone calls in, or be available to drive in a very last-minute emergency situation.
- Packing Sack Lunches
We have over 650 sack lunches that go out every Friday to recipients. Groups can help pack the items that go in these lunches
- Emergency Meal Kit Preparation
We send out 2 Emergency Meal Kits every year. These kits include shelf-stable food items that recipients can use on days we are closed (usually because of bad weather). We need volunteers that can help pack these kits and all the items that go in them to prepare them for drivers to deliver.
If you have a group or organization that is interested in volunteering please complete the Group Volunteer Application. If you have any questions about the volunteer opportunities available, please contact Kelly Usry, Volunteer Director, at (325) 655-9200 or email her at email@example.com.
Additional Ways to Get Involved
If your group or organization is unable to volunteer your time, but would still like to contribute, you may consider hosting a drive for items that we need for recipients. In addition to meals, we send out items such as fans, heaters, incontinence supplies, and toiletries to those in need If you would like more information or would like to host a drive benefitting Meals For The Elderly, please contact Jessica Behringer, Director of Development & Marketing, at (325) 655-9200 or firstname.lastname@example.org
