Daniel Valenzuela

City Manager

For Daniel, giving back is at the heart of public service. “Serving others strengthens the very fabric of our community,” he says. “It builds trust, uplifts the vulnerable, and creates a sense of belonging. In San Angelo, we are more than just neighbors, we’re a family.” Daniel is especially committed to supporting the city’s elderly residents, honoring the contributions they’ve made throughout their lives.

Being named a 2025 Community Champion is a humbling honor for Daniel. “This recognition reflects the incredible people I get to serve alongside every day,” he shares. “It represents the spirit of service that runs deep in San Angelo, and I accept it on behalf of every city employee, volunteer, and resident who makes our community stronger and more compassionate.”

Daniel’s dedication to San Angelo extends beyond his professional role. He serves on three local boards focused on quality of life, public health, and economic development, connecting with residents and helping guide initiatives that make a lasting difference in the city he proudly calls home.

A guiding passage in Daniel’s life comes from Philippians 2:4:
“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.”
This scripture reminds him that leadership is about stewardship, compassion, and decisions that benefit the greater good.

Outside of work, Daniel is a proud grandfather who cherishes time outdoors with his family  including grilling, relaxing by the lake, and cheering on his grandkids during sports. He is also passionate about mentoring young professionals in public service, believing that investing in the next generation is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen communities.
