Kathy was raised on the principle that it’s better to give than receive, a value that has guided her throughout her life. “Giving back allows me to show my gratitude for all that this community has given me, as well as a chance to show others all San Angelo has to offer,” she shares.
Being named a Community Champion is a humbling honor. “It comes with great responsibility. It takes all of us, from all walks of life, to create change and impact our community in a positive way. I pray my efforts inspire others to get involved and make a difference,” Kathy says.
Her community involvement spans generations. Kathy loves working with children, inspired by her grandchildren, and has participated in SAISD and United Way reading programs, engaging elementary students in reading and activities. She has taught religious education at her church and dedicated years to promoting Fort Concho National Historic Landmark, serving on both the Fort Concho Board and Foundation Board. She also works with her husband in a church ministry, mentoring newly engaged couples on the joy of marriage.
Kathy is guided by Philippians 4:6-7: “Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
