For Lori, giving back is a shared responsibility. “Each of us ARE the community,” she says. “We all have an obligation to do our part to take care of the whole. For the community to be there for all of us, we must all be there for our community. It’s about taking care of each other.”
Being named a 2025 Community Champion is a meaningful honor for Lori. “Meals for the Elderly is the real champion,” she reflects. Having been a substitute driver, decorated sack lunch bags with her 4-H Horse Club, and witnessed the program’s impact when a family member received meals during a terminal illness, she appreciates firsthand the vital support the organization provides. Lori is proud to serve them in any small way and help champion their mission.
Lori’s involvement in the community spans decades. She served as a manager for the Tom Green County 4-H Horse Club and as an officer of the Adult Leaders Council. She has held board positions with the Christoval Chamber and was a founding member of the Christoval FFA and Alumni Supporters Booster Club. Currently, she serves on the boards of the Knickerbocker Community Center, Dove Creek Subdivision Owners Association, and United Way of the Concho Valley, and is an active member of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Concho Cadre.
A scripture that inspires Lori in her service is Isaiah 6:8:
“Also I heard the voice of the LORD saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Then said I, ‘Here am I; send me.’”
This verse reminds her that stepping forward to serve is both a calling and a privilege, guiding her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
