For Monica, giving back is about more than just service, it’s a way of life. “There’s a deep sense of fulfillment in knowing that my actions, not just my reactions can bring positive change,” she says. “To be happy and uplift those around you, you have to love where you live. When you care deeply about your community, you’re inspired to contribute, create opportunities, and help make it a better place for everyone.”
Being named a 2025 Community Champion is a meaningful recognition for Monica. “It means a lot to be recognized for doing something I care about, supporting others and helping organizations fulfill their missions,” she shares.
Monica’s community involvement spans multiple organizations. She leads Downtown San Angelo, Inc., dedicating extra time to enhance the city’s downtown vibrancy. She serves on the Board of Directors for the San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum & Cultural Center, highlighting and celebrating the cultural influence of the Hispanic community, and is an active member of the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Concho Cadre, supporting new businesses and sharing their stories. From 2020 to 2022, she also served on the Board of Directors for the Railway Museum of San Angelo, promoting the city’s rich railroad history.
Her guiding principle is simple: “Love where you live.”
