For Pete, giving back is about more than service, it’s about building connection and purpose. “Giving back to my community strengthens bonds, encourages personal growth, and provides a sense of fulfillment,” he explains. “It promotes unity and helps everyone feel a sense of belonging.”
Being named a 2025 Community Champion is a humbling experience. “Words cannot fully express the true meaning of this honor, but I can share gratitude,” Pete says. “Gratitude for the opportunity to shine a light on the good, giving glory to the Father, and growing in love and works for the good of all.”
Pete’s community involvement began in his youth volunteering at the Wesley Soup Kitchen, where he discovered his passion for serving others. His dedication has since grown to include roles as a lector and Eucharistic minister during Mass, as well as participation on various nonprofit boards and committees, including La Esperanza Clinic, United Way, Concho Valley Regional Food Bank, San Angelo Federal Credit Union, Region 9 Upper Colorado RFPG, and the Goodfellow AFB Honorary Commander program.
A guiding scripture for Pete is 1 Timothy 4:12:
“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
This verse inspires him to lead by example and serve with heart, faith, and integrity.
