2026 Community Champion: Alexis Hernandez
Alexis Hernandez has a passion for sharing stories that highlight the good happening in our community. As a journalist with KLST and KSAN News, she helps bring attention to the people, organizations, and moments that are making a difference across the Concho Valley.
Although she is newer to San Angelo, Alexis has quickly embraced the heart of this community. Through her work in local news, she has had the opportunity to highlight many of the churches and organizations serving others, including San Angelo First’s Teacher Giveaway, Homeless Navigation Day, the Concho Valley Community Action Agency, and many others working to support our neighbors.
For Alexis, giving back is rooted in her faith. She believes we are all part of one family, each walking our own path, and that serving others is simply caring for our brothers and sisters in need. That perspective guides both her work and the way she engages with the community.
Being named a Meals For The Elderly Community Champion is meaningful to Alexis because she believes the best way to be recognized is through giving, supporting others, and helping create positive change in the community.
Outside of work, Alexis is a first time mom to a daughter who has changed her life in the most beautiful way. She also enjoys serving at her church, San Angelo First, where she helps showcase the work God is doing through the community using visual storytelling.
One scripture that inspires her service is Proverbs 19:21:
“Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.”
As part of the Meals For The Elderly Community Champions program, Alexis will participate in a ride along with one of our volunteer delivery routes during March for Meals. This experience gives champions a chance to see firsthand the impact of a daily meal delivery and the personal connections that mean so much to the seniors we serve.
Meals For The Elderly is grateful to Alexis for using her voice to highlight the good happening in our community and for serving as an ambassador for our mission of neighbors helping neighbors.
