2026 Community Champion: Destiny Jaso

Destiny Jaso believes the strength of a community comes from the people who care deeply about it and choose to invest in its future. As the Executive Officer of the Home Builders Association of San Angelo, Destiny works closely with local leaders, businesses, and organizations that help shape the growth and development of the Concho Valley.

San Angelo holds a special place in Destiny’s heart. It is where she and her husband met, where they built their life together, and the place they have intentionally chosen to raise their family. She values the genuine kindness that defines this community and the way neighbors are quick to support one another. Giving back is her way of investing in the place that has given her family so much.

Destiny’s passion for community involvement began during her time working with Downtown San Angelo, Inc., where she first discovered how meaningful it can be to serve locally. Since then, she has remained actively involved in a variety of ways, including participation in the Chamber of Commerce Concho Cadre, serving on the Downtown San Angelo board, contributing to several city boards, and through her leadership with the Home Builders Association of San Angelo.

Among the roles that has meant the most to her is serving as a CASA volunteer. In that role, she advocates for children and families during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The experience has deepened her commitment to serving others with compassion, integrity, and consistency.

For Destiny, being named a Meals For The Elderly Community Champion reflects the importance of showing up for others. She believes a champion is someone who listens to the needs of the community, connects people with resources, and leads by example through service and advocacy. It is about helping build stronger relationships and creating positive growth for the people who call San Angelo home.

A scripture that inspires Destiny’s life and service is Matthew 11:28–30:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

This verse reminds her that when life feels heavy, turning to the Lord provides guidance, strength, and rest.

As part of the Meals For The Elderly Community Champions program, Destiny will participate in a ride along with one of our volunteer delivery routes during March for Meals. This experience allows champions to see firsthand the impact of a daily meal delivery and the personal connections that mean so much to the seniors we serve.

Meals For The Elderly is grateful for Destiny’s heart for service and for her willingness to serve as an ambassador for our mission of neighbors helping neighbors.
