2026 Community Champion: Joe Hyde
Joe Hyde has long believed that strong communities are built by people who choose to invest in the place they call home. As the founder of San Angelo LIVE!, Joe has dedicated his work to keeping the Concho Valley informed, connected, and engaged with the stories that matter most to local residents.
For Joe, community is more than a place on a map. It is an investment in the people around us. He believes that when we choose to live in a community, we also take on the responsibility of caring for our neighbors. San Angelo, he says, is fortunate to be filled with people from all walks of life who genuinely look out for one another.
Joe’s interest in supporting Meals For The Elderly comes from his deep respect for the role the organization plays in the lives of seniors across the Concho Valley. He recognizes that something as simple as a daily meal can make it possible for older adults to remain in the homes they love rather than having to leave the independence and familiarity of their community.
Beyond his work in local media, Joe has also been involved in several service organizations, including the Rotary Club of San Angelo, the American Legion, and as a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. These connections reflect his appreciation for service, leadership, and the importance of civic engagement.
Joe is also deeply invested in the future of local journalism. Through San Angelo LIVE!, he is working to strengthen the role of hyperlocal news by focusing on modern digital platforms while continuing to highlight the issues, events, and people that shape life in San Angelo. His belief is simple: strong local news helps build strong communities.
As part of the Meals For The Elderly Community Champions program, Joe will participate in a ride along with one of our volunteer delivery routes during March for Meals. This experience allows champions to see firsthand the impact of a daily meal delivery and the meaningful connections volunteers build with the seniors they serve.
Meals For The Elderly is grateful for Joe’s commitment to keeping our community informed and connected, and we are thankful for his support as an ambassador for our mission of neighbors helping neighbors.
