Kari Smetana, Runnels County Representative
Kari Smetana serves as the Runnels County Representative on the Meals For The Elderly Board of Directors and is passionate about serving others through faith, compassion, and community involvement. As an agent with CatholicLife Insurance and an active volunteer in numerous local organizations, she is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those around her.
For Kari, giving back is rooted in her belief that we are called to serve others with kindness, respect, and love. She views service as an opportunity to be God's hands and feet, especially when caring for older adults who have contributed so much to their communities. Through Meals For The Elderly, she is honored to help ensure seniors feel valued, supported, and connected.
Kari's community involvement extends beyond Meals For The Elderly. She has served as President and Treasurer of the Miles Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, Treasurer and Concession Stand Coordinator for the Miles Baseball Softball Association, and is active with the Bulldog Band Booster Club. Her faith-based service includes leadership with CatholicLife Rowena Branch #40, as well as membership in the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society at Saint Joseph Catholic Church.
Her connection to Meals For The Elderly is also personal. After witnessing the impact the program had on her husband's grandmother, Kari saw firsthand how daily meal deliveries and wellness checks helped maintain independence while providing peace of mind for family members.
Kari is inspired by the words of a favorite church hymn: "Will you let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you. Pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too." Those words continue to guide her commitment to serving others with humility, compassion, and care.
