2026 Community Champion: Lyndy Stone
Lyndy Stone believes that every person has a responsibility to serve and contribute to the well being of the community around them. Through both her professional career and her volunteer efforts, she has spent many years helping strengthen the connections that make San Angelo such a special place to live.
Lyndy serves as Administrative Director of Marketing at Shannon Health, where she has worked for 25 years helping support the organization’s mission of caring for the family, friends, and neighbors who live throughout our region. Her dedication to community health and connection has made a meaningful impact on countless lives across the Concho Valley.
Her passion for serving others has also led her to become involved with many local organizations. Over the years she has had the privilege of serving as a board member for Junior League of San Angelo, Downtown San Angelo, the Better Business Bureau, Helping Hands, and the American Red Cross. She has also volunteered with Leadership San Angelo, United Way of the Concho Valley, Sunrise Rotary Club, San Angelo RiverFest, and Wall PTO.
For Lyndy, giving back is about more than volunteering. She believes that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a profound difference in someone’s life. Serving others also helps people grow closer and better understand the unique challenges and strengths within their community.
Being named a Meals For The Elderly Community Champion is especially meaningful to her because of the impact the organization has on seniors throughout the area. Lyndy recognizes that while the daily meal is vital, the connection that comes with it can be just as important. A brief visit, a smile, or a conversation can brighten someone’s day and remind them they are not alone.
Her connection to the mission of Meals For The Elderly began long before she lived in San Angelo. Growing up in Lamesa, her mother, who was a teacher, would occasionally volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels during the summer. Lyndy and her sister would ride along, helping load the meals into the car and delivering them to residents’ homes. Those early experiences left a lasting impression and helped her understand the importance of caring for neighbors in need. Later, while participating in Leadership San Angelo, she had the opportunity to tour Meals For The Elderly and see firsthand the incredible work happening here in our community.
A quote that inspires Lyndy’s approach to service comes from Maya Angelou:
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
As part of the Meals For The Elderly Community Champions program, Lyndy will participate in a ride along with one of our volunteer delivery routes during March for Meals. This experience allows champions to see firsthand the impact of a daily meal delivery and the meaningful connections volunteers build with the seniors they serve.
